Oasis return to the UK singles chart Top Ten

But the new entry at Number One is not the Manchester band...

Oasis have returned to the Top Ten of the UK singles chart tonight (March 15) - but have failed to claim their first Number One single since 2005.

'Falling Down', the third single to be taken from current LP 'Dig Out Your Soul', is the band's 23rd UK Top Ten hit, but only just made it, going in at Ten.

The new chart-topper is 'Islands In The Stream', the Comic Relief charity single featuring comedians from the show 'Gavin And Stacey' as well as Tom Jones and Robin Gibb from The Bee Gees, who wrote the original 'Islands In The Stream', a hit in 1984 for Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.

It's the 11th time a Comic Relief single has reached the summit.

THe UK singles chart Top Ten is:

1. Comic Relief 09 – 'Islands In The Stream'
2. Flo Rida fest Kesha - 'Right Round'
3. The Saturdays – 'Just Can't Get Enough'
4. Lady GaGa – 'Poker Face'
5. Taylor Swift – 'Love Story'
6. Kelly Clarkson – 'My Life Would Suck Without You'
7. Ti Ft Justin Timberlake - 'Dead And Gone'
8. Kings Of Leon – 'Use Somebody'
9. Akon ft Offishall/c O'Donis – 'Beautiful'
10. Oasis – 'Falling Down'

U2 stay on top of the album chart for a second successive week with 'No Line On The Horizon', their tenth album to hit the summit in the UK.

Not that it matters much, but didn't "I'm Outta Time" also fail to get to Number 1?

Still an awful dreary by-numbers rock song.
