'Rock Band' sales hit $1 billion
Video game sales go through the roof in just over a year
Sales of the 'Rock Band video game have exceeded the $1 billion mark in North America, after only 15 months of being on sale.
The game features tracks from the likes of Pearl Jam, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Smashing Pumpkins, and allows players to play along on a variety of instruments.
’Rock Band’’s rival game Guitar Hero is preparing for the release of ‘Metallica: Guitar Hero’ which comes out on Monday (March 29), while ‘Rock Band’ will release ‘The Beatles:Rock Band’ on September 29.
According to Rolling Stone, over 40 million tracks have been downloaded and purchased for ‘Rock Band’.
‘Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock’ hit $1 billion in sales in 2007.
