Girls Aloud's Cheryl Cole is set to embark on a solo career while her band take a break this year.
The band's spokesperson confirmed the news to BBC News, adding that no release schedule had been confirmed and it had not been determined which producers Cole might work with.
"Her A&R people have approached various producers with the view to working with her," the spokesperson said. "Until she has recorded music, we can't say who will be working on the record as we can't say at this stage what will make it past the idea stage."
He said that Girls Aloud would "take time out" this year to work on projects from "music to acting to beauty to fashion".
