Susan Boyle loses out in final of 'Britain's Got Talent'

The phenomenon is beaten by dance troupe

Street dance group Diversity have been crowned the winner of this year's 'Britain's Got Talent' tonight (May 30) in a shock victory over favourite Susan Boyle.

The 10-strong group, whose members are aged between 12 and 25, is made up of three sets of brothers and was only formed in 2007.

The result, which came after a public vote, was a huge surprise. Boyle, was criticised earlier this week by Lily Allen (pictured) who said she was "overrated". Boyle, had long been installed as favourite after becoming a worldwide star, feted by Oprah Winfrey and Demi Moore, after her audition for the show became one of the most watched videos ever on YouTube.

The winners pick up a £100,000 prize and the chance to perform at this year's Royal Variety Show in front of the Queen.

Boyle, a 48 year-old church volunteer from West Lothian in Scotland, sang 'I Dreamed A Dream' from stage musical 'Les Miserables' in the final. She did not appear to be too disappointed in defeat, however, and said later of future plans: "I hope to get an album out - I'll just play it by ear."

The show was watched by over 18 million people in the UK.
