Supergrass members form band with Radiohead producer

Supergrass' Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey have joined forces with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich for a new side-project.

The trio are working on a covers album and record under the moniker The Hot Rats. They are working on songs by The Kinks, Gang Of Four, Syd Barrett, Roxy Music and the Sex Pistols.

The band are set to make appearances at a clutch of festivals this summer including Glastonbury next Friday (June 26), Truck Festival on July 26, the Reading And Leeds Festivals (which takes place on August 28-30) and at Bestival on September 12.

This is the second time the Supergrass pair have formed a side-project. They took on the roles of Duke Diamond and Randy Hoo Ha (Combes and Goffey respectively) in their previous guise The Diamond Hoo Ha Men when bassist Mick Quinn suffered a broken back after a fall in 2007.

The Hot Rats plan to release their debut album in the autumn.
