The Dodos announce new album details

The Dodos have announced details of their forthcoming new album, which is due out at the end of the summer.

The San Francisco duo return with their third album, 'Time To Die', which has been produced by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Shins), on August 31.

The band have also drafted in an extra member, with 21 year-old Keaton Snyder taking up the vibraphone on the follow-up to the band's 2008 breakthrough record 'Visiter'.

"After 'Visiter', we had a lot of options for which direction to go," said frontman Meric Longs in a statement.

He added: "I knew we wanted to make a rock record. Being an acoustic band - primarily, at least -sort of works against this idea, but Phil's production showcased that side of our band."

The band are also due to play a handful of UK dates in September.

The Dodos will play:

Birmingham Glee Club (September 1)
Bristol Thekla (2)
London Bush Hall (3)
Glasgow King Tuts (4)
Manchester Ruby Lounge (5)
