Rihanna to appear in court today
She may not testify in Chris Brown assault case
Rihanna is due in court in Los Angeles today (June 22) after being subpoenaed to appear by prosecutors.
The singer may not actually have to testify in the case, since it is classified as a domestic violence issue. She cannot be threatened with jail if she refuses to take the stand, but she can be fined.
Rihanna was allegedly assaulted by then-boyfriend Chris Brown on February 8 as the pair left Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party.
Her testimony could determine if the case goes to trial or ends in a plea deal, which could see Brown serve time behind bars.
