N.E.R.D. get the plug pulled on them at Glastonbury
Pharrell Williams' band's set cut short by organisers
N.E.R.D had the plug pulled on their Glastonbury show on the Pyramid Stage this afternoon (June 26).
Pharrell Williams' band were around 25 minutes late starting their performance, which was billed to begin at 3.10pm (BST) after being named as special guests at the Somerset festival on Tuesday (June 23).
The frontman told the crowd that the band would defy organisers and play a full set.
However, the sound was pulled on them shortly into 'Everyone Nose (All The Girls Standing In The Line For The Bathroom)', which would prove to be their final song.
Showing a lack of understanding of British currency, Wiliams said early in the set: "They’re trying to cut our set short because of technical issues. All I know is that you've paid between 100 and 200 dollars... and you want to see a full N.E.R.D set... that's what's going to happen."
Later Williams paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson, shouting, "R.I.P. Michael Jackson!" during 'Sooner Or Later'.
He then invited fans to dance with him onstage during ’Lapdance’ and vented anger at organisers. "We came all the way from the USA to play for 200,000 people," he yelled. "Quit saying I've got five more minutes!"
The sound was cut a few seconds into the final song, with the rapper leaping into the pit to continue to shout lyrics and flip the bird to organisers at the side of the stage to chants of “N.E.R.D!” from the crowd.
