Oasis end Wembley Stadium residency by reviving old classic

Oasis wrapped their third and final date at Wembley Stadium last night (July 12) by reviving one of their classic singles.

Noel Gallagher performed an acoustic version of 1994 Christmas single 'Whatever', during which he was joined on harmonica by guitarist Gem Archer.

The addition of the song represents one of the few changes to Oasis' set on this tour and the first time the band have played the hit single in the UK in years, though Gallagher did play a similar version of the song in Japan earlier in 2009.

The show, which was watched by both members of The Last Shadow Puppets, Alex Turner and Miles Kane, snooker ace Ronnie O' Sullivan, Kimberly Stewart and The Hours' Antony Genn, was the band's final night at the English soccer stadium, having played there on Thursday (July 9) and Saturday (11).

Marking the end of the band's summer UK stadium dates, frontman Liam Gallagher dived into the pit at the climax of the customary show closer, a version of The Beatles' I Am The Walrus', to shake hands with the front row.
