Heath Ledger-directed Modest Mouse video to premiere tomorrow (August 4)

A music video that was directed by late actor Heath Ledger for Modest Mouse's song 'King Rat' is set to premiere online tomorrow (August 4).

The nautically themed animated video will make its debut on MySpace Music, coinciding with the release of a new Modest Mouse EP. You can watch it here.

Ledger conceived the video's theme in order to raise awareness of the plight of whales that are hunted down illegally for commercial purposes off the coast of his native Australia. The video remained unfinished at the time of Ledger's death in January 2008, but video company The Masses, in which Ledger had been a partner, has completed it in his honour.

Proceeds from downloads of the video via US iTunes during the first month of its release will go toward Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a non-profit organisation committed to ending the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.
