The Mighty Boosh's Noel Fielding and Dave Brown made their first public performance as their new act The Doctor And The Pencil last night (August 14) in London.

The pair played a DJ set as their new alter egos – Fielding plays The Doctor and Brown the Pencil – at the Macmillan's Brick Lane Takeover event, playing a bunch of boisterous tunes at the Vibe Bar.

As well as the pair's show, the event had bands including The Chapman Family, Eight Legs and Futurecop! on the bill, with the acts playing across various venues in the area.

Fielding and Brown (who plays Bollo the gorilla in the comedy TV series) began their DJ set at around 10:30pm (BST). Brown, dressed as an enormous pencil, manned the decks, playing songs including Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life', Jet's 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' and Simian vs Justice's 'We Are Your Friends'.

Fielding, dressed in a white lab coat, white wig and with garish make-up, dived in and out of the crowd, kissing and hugging fans and posing for photos.

He also spent a good deal of time drawing odd sketches on a flipboard which he gave away to fans in the front row, while the pair showered the crowd with sweets.

The set ended at 11:30pm, before the pair headed backstage to continue their party, as security guards attempted to fend off eager fans.
