Placebo cancel North American tour
Singer Brian Molko recovers from Asian virus
Placebo have announced the cancellation of their entire North American tour.
The band were set to kick off the US leg of the jaunt on September 12 in Portland, but have been forced to postpone all of the gigs so that singer Brian Molko can recover from a virus he contracted while touring in Asia.
Molko recently collapsed on stage at the Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka, Japan, as as previously reported. He is now home in London recovering, and has been ordered by his doctor to rest for six weeks.
"This is pretty devastating for everyone - we've only ever cancelled three shows in Placebo's 14-year history, however Brian's health is paramount," the band's management said in a statement.
"Our sincere apologies go out to Placebo's loyal American fans who have waited a long time to see the band. We will try and do everything to rearrange the dates as soon as possible."
Tickets for the cancelled shows can be refunded at the point of purchase.
