The Beatles-based 1968 animated film 'Yellow Submarine' is set to be re-made as a 3D film.
Disney are preparing to make the new project along with Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis – who is planning to utilise the same technology used in his forthcoming 3D film 'A Christmas Carol', reports Variety.
Disney hope to have the film ready to air by summer 2012, with Zemeckis clearing access to songs by The Beatles to use in the film.
The Beatles did not directly contribute to the making of the original 'Yellow Submarine' film, with actors providing the voices of their characters.
