Franz Ferdinand-featuring The Yummy Fur reuniting
Franz and 1990s-featuring band to play live again?
The band, who featured 1990s singer John [Jackie] McKeown alongside Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thompson and singer Alex Kapranos (playing bass and keyboards), are reportedly set to play their first proper gig since 1999 at Glasgow's Nice N' Sleazy on January 7.
According to the band's old record label Guided Missile, the one-off tour will feature McKeown and Thompson alongside guitarist Brian McDougall. Kapranos – who performed as Alex Huntley – is not said to be involved at present.
The band are understood to be touring to celebrate the 15th anniversary Guided Missile, and a new The Yummy Fur compilation album is reportedly set to be released around the same time as the shows.
The Yummy Fur reportedly play:
Glasgow Nice N’ Sleazys (January 7)
London Buffalo Bar (9)
Philadelphia Kung Fu Neck Tie (England Belongs to Twee) (14)
Brooklyn Lombardy (15)
Los Angeles The Echo (Part Time Punks) (17)
San Francisco Cafe du Nord (18)
Portland Suicide Club (20)
In May McKeown and Thompson played a seemingly impromptu gig at London's Buffalo Bar. Watch footage of the performance below.
