Ringo Starr has blamed the rise of eBay for his ban on signing autographs for fans.
In October 2008 the ex-Beatles drummer publicly said he would refuse to sign any more autographs and would not open any further fan mail.
Now he has told BBC Radio 2 that the move was due to people selling on his signiatures.
"I was signing and then they were on eBay the next day," he said. "So I just decided, 'I think I've done my share. That's it'."
He added: "I honestly didn't think it was going to be world news – BBC and CNN".
Starr made the 2008 announcement, "with peace and love", via a video message – watch it by scrolling below now.
