The Charlatans have been forced to call off their current tour of the US following a medical emergency.

The northern indie veterans were in the middle of a show at Philadephia's Jonny Brenda's venue on Wednesday (September 15) when drummer Jon Brookes collapsed onstage.

Brookes is said to be in a comfortable condition, but was flown back to the UK for further treatment. As a result, the dates have been postponed.

A spokesperson for the band said in a statement: "The Charlatans are very upset at not being able to continue the tour but hope to reschedule the dates as soon as possible."

The Charlatans recently released new album 'Who We Touch'.
