Bruce Springsteen, Metallica and Iron Maiden will headline Brazil's Rock In Rio in September 2013.

The festival, which takes place in Rio De Janeiro, will see Metallica headlining for the sixth time on September 19. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will follow on September 20 with Iron Maiden booked to perform on September 22.

Posting the announcement online, Metallica said: "We're back with another show announcement and unlike last week's posting, we're giving you almost [a] whole year’s notice!! We are super psyched to be returning to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for our sixth Rock in Rio on September 19, 2013. How's that for advance planning?!"

Brazilian residents will be able to purchase tickets from October 23 with international tickets going on sale in April 2013.

Rock In Rio marks the latest 2013 festival date for Iron Maiden, who were recently confirmed to play at Download Festival next year alongside Rammstein and Slipknot. Meanwhile, Metallica have stepped in to replace Green Daystepped in to replace Green Day at the Voodoo Music & Arts Experience in New Orleans while Billie Joe Armstrong remains in rehab.
