Albert Hammond Jr of The Strokes has announced a string of May UK tour dates.

The guitarist-turned-solo artist will play five shows on the tour, including gigs in Newcastle, Manchester, Oxford, Nottingham and London plus festival appearances at Glasgow's Stag & Dagger and Live at Leeds. Starting in Leeds on May 3, the tour will conclude in London at Village Underground on May 15. Scroll down for the full details and ticket information.

Albert Hammond Jr released a new EP, titled 'AHJ', in 2013 on his bandmate Julian Casablancas' Cult Records label. Of the follow-up to his 2006 debut LP 'Yours To Keep' and 2008 record '¿Cómo Te Llama?', Hammond Jr said: "It's a combination of both previous recordings, which in turn makes it feel like it’s the best material that I’ve made so far."

The guitarist denied that The Strokes are back in the studio following a cryptic statement in a fan mailout earlier this late last year which suggested that the band were preparing a "return to the scene".

Albert Hammond Jr will play:

Leeds Live At Leeds (May 3)
Glasgow Stag & Dagger (4)
Newcastle O2 Academy 2 (6)
Manchester Gorilla (7)
Oxford O2 Academy 2 (9)
Birmingham Glee Club (11)
Nottingham The Bodega (12)
Bristol Fleece (13)
London Village Underground (15)
