Violence flared at the LEEDS leg of the CARLING FESTIVAL late Sunday evening (August 26), with police in protective equipment being called in to control people throwing "stones and missiles".
A spokesperson for Leeds police told NME.COM that trouble started after a core of 30 people in a festival campsite set fire to three toilet blocks shortly after the end of the headline band at 11.30pm.
Police with riot gear were brought in to protect security, who were attacked with a series of "stones and missiles", according to police sources.
The trouble was brought under control at approximately 3.30am yesterday morning (August 27), with nine arrests. 13 police officers were injured as a result of the disturbance.
Police are appealing to any festivalgoers who have may have witnessed the trouble to call the incident room on 0113 241 3685.
