No Doubt's latest single 'Looking Hot' sold just 680 copies in its first week of release.

The track, the second single to be taken from the band's comeback album 'Push And Shove', reached No 397 on the chart, almost 1,500 sales short of hitting the Top 200. The 'Push And Shove' album itself peaked at No 16 in the chart, selling less than 7,000 copies, while comeback single 'Settle Down' reached just No 85. To date, 'Looking Hot' has sold just 1,400 units.

A performance on The X Factor, usually credited with lifting an artist's sales by around 300 percent, did little to help. Some of the blame for the single's poor performance could be down to the band's decision to pull a controversial video, which saw Gwen Stefani dressed as a Native American squaw, dancing in a tepee, being watched by a wolf. The band apologised for any offence caused and withdrew the clip.

The sales figures are unusually low for the band, although there is a grain of good news. Statistics from Last.FM say 28,000 people have 'scrobbled' the song, clocking up more than 117,000 plays. This suggests fans are listening to the song on streaming services rather than downloading the track outright.

Nevertheless, Gwen Stefani may be rueing the day she decided to call time on her acclaimed, mega-selling solo career to reunite her band.
