Notorious BIG wrongful-death lawsuit reinstated
LA judge rules in favour of rapper's family
This ruling reverses a previous federal court decision to dismiss the case because of a filing deadline missed by the family.
The family appealed, and the Los Angeles judge reversed the decision after finding federal claims in the case can proceed, according to court papers obtained yesterday (May 8), reports the Associated Press.
The family of Notorious BIG, whose real name is Christopher Wallace, have been given 20 days to file the new lawsuit.
The suit, filed on behalf of the rapper's widow, mother and two children, alleges that rogue Los Angeles police officers conspired to kill Wallace and that the Police Department covered up their involvement.
Notorious BIG was shot and killed on March 9, 1997 when leaving a party at a Los Angeles museum. The crime remains unsolved.
