Oasis are practical certainties to hit Number One in the UK on Sunday.

NME.COM has learned that the only real contender is Doves who are set to score their biggest hit to date with 'There Goes The Fear'.

At present, both acts are set to stay ahead of Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates who has held the top spot for four weeks with his cover of 'Unchained Melody'.

Oasis' last charting single was 'Sunday Morning Call' which charted at four in July 2000.
