Oasis are Number One

OASIS have knocked MCFLY off the top of the UK singles chart tonight (August 28).


’The Importance Of Being Idle’ is at Number One, as ’Don’t Believe The Truth’ becomes the first Oasis album since ’Be Here Now’ to yield more than one chart-topping track. McFly’s ’I’ll Be OK’ falls to number eight


Elsewhere in the charts, there are new entries for Kaiser Chiefs who go in at Number nine with ’I Predict A Riot’/ ‘Sink That Ship’, White Stripes are at Number ten with ’My Doorbell’, while The Cribs’ ’Martell’ scrapes into the top 40 at 39.


This week’s Top Ten singles are:

1. Oasis – ‘The Importance Of Being Idle’
2. Rihanna – ‘Pon De Replay’
3. Daniel Powter – ‘Bad Day’
4. Simon Webbe – ‘Lay Your Hands’
5. James Blunt – ‘You’re Beautiful’
6. Black Eyed Peas – ‘Don’t Lie’
7. Girls Aloud – ‘Long Hot Summer’
8. McFly – ‘I’ll Be Ok’
9. Kaiser Chiefs – ‘I Predict A Riot’/ ‘Sink That Ship’
10. The White Stripes – ‘My Doorbell’


In the album charts, James Blunt remains Number One, while Goldfrapp’s ’Supernature’ is the highest new entry at number two.
