Oasis O2 residency rumours resurface

Could the Gallaghers be playing London venue this year?

Rumours that Oasis could be the latest act to play a mammoth residency at London's O2 Arena have resurfaced.

With the band's seventh studio album due this year, rumours of a stint at the massive venue first started some months ago.

Now, the Sunday Mirror has quoted a 'band insider' as saying the shows are close to being announced for autumn.

They said: "The dates will be a real special event – and the first major rock residency at the O2. There have been lots of pop acts there – The Spice Girls and Prince. Led Zeppelin did one date. But no band has yet to set up camp there for a whole run.

"They are lining up 10 dates some time in the autumn at the dome before taking on the rest of the world.

The Mirror reckons that the shows would earn something in the region of £15 million.

sounds good but prince played a whole month there-so it's hardly the first time a band has set up a whole runand people get paid for stories like this

Great to see 'em back!! I hope they're still gonna tour the rest of the country. It's all good and well playing loads of dates in London but not everyone can afford to travel down to see 'em at the 02. After tickets, travel and a hotel it'll cost a fortune for anyone not in the south-east. Don't forget the north lads!!!

Fuck Oasis. I'd raise fifteen million for Blur to do a residency and go every night. I'd walk to Australia to see them.

The Galager brothers (however the hell you spell it) are so arrogant it's beyond comprehension. And they only put out 2 decent albums before everything ran dry. They've sucked for years now. I'm sick of Noel critiquing other artists. EFF YOU Galagers.

Well said Soundedd, chadley and the rest of you slaters are a bunch of dicks. Why waste your time making comments if you dont like them. If I spent all day doing that on here I'd get a job as a paid critic. If you dont like their music dont buy it, if you're not bothered about seeing them live then dont go and if you think they are idiots then dont listen to what they have go to say...simple!!

hmm. Think not. This from this morning's papers.Neil Gallagher also revealed that Oasis will never play London's O2 arena because it's too "Americanised"."We went there to see Led Zeppelin and to be honest the gig was fantastic, but it was the most soul destroying venue I've ever been to."And much to our manager and agent's disappointment, we came back and said we would never play there."It's too Americanised for me, and it's too far away. Any gig you can get to by boat that hasn't got a beach is wrong."
