Oasis: 'Nearly named album after Geri Halliwell song'

Noel Gallagher reveals 'Spicy' alternative title for 'Dig Out Your Soul'

Noel Gallagher has admitted he nearly named his album after a Geri Halliwell song – until his girlfriend pointed it out.

'Dig Out Your Soul', out on October 6, was nearly called 'Bag It Up', the star explained.

"The missus goes 'Bag It Up'? isn't that a song by Geri Halliwell. I was like: 'You've ruined my entire fucking year!'," he told Mojo.

The song in question was a UK Number One single in March 2000.

'Dig Out Your Soul' is due out on October 6, preceded by the single 'The Shock Of the Lightning' on September 29.

The Cancer Of Dreams

This was obviously a marketing ploy. The band left their label so lost the fanbase details. by getting everyone to give their e-mail etc. they have just regained a huge database of fans, they can continue to market their products to.Noel is merely commenting on that. To slag him off for a comment like this is missing the point. Your time would be better spent asking NME why they continue to push jangly shit music on us with singers that can't sing. An example is the Ting Tings! WTF is that about! NME bring us some decent music for once, you fickle excuse for music pundits! JAY Z is a prime example one week you slate him the next you love him! No one cares what you think anyway just tell us about the music not what lilly 'i didn't write my songs' Allen has for breakfast!!!! Ok rant over. Wake up England!

Tell us what you think. We’ll print the best responses in the NME letters page each week.
