Oasis cancel show tonight (September 9)

Gallagher's injuries force gig postponement

Oasis have cancelled a scheduled show tonight in Canada after Noel Gallagher was advised to rest following an attack on stage two nights ago.

A message on Ontario's John Labatt Centre website explained that Noel suffered bruising after being pushed into a monitor by a stage invader at the Virgin Festival in Toronto on Sunday night (September 7).

Breaking news of the cancellation, the post said: "Following an incident during Oasis' performance at the Virgin Festival in Toronto, when Noel was attacked by a stage invader, Oasis are regrettably being forced to announce that tonight's show in London, Ontario cannot go ahead as planned.

"Noel fell heavily on to his monitor speakers when he was pushed suddenly from behind by his attacker and suffered bruising to his ribs and hip. He was examined in a local hospital after the band's performance and has been advised to rest.

"Unfortunately, despite resting up yesterday, the extent of his injuries mean he will not be able to perform tonight. The band are very keen to complete their Canadian tour and options for rescheduling the final London, Ontario show are currently being looked into.

"Ticket holders are asked to retain their tickets until a further announcement is made in a few days."

As previously reported, the man accused of attacking Oasis' Noel Gallagher at V Festival in Toronto on Sunday night (September 7) has appeared in court on an assault charge.

Daniel Sullivan, a 47-year-old man from Pickering, Ontario, was charged with assault after spending the night in police custody. He has since been released and must appear in court again on October 24.

i can feel for the canada fans. i have "signed up for chance to buy tickets" for this Friday's New York club show on the first day, and never got that damn email (with instructions to purchase). I guess I'm just out of luck in this lottery but this shows that the boys are still much loved, even in the states.I think the Friday show will be doubtful as well. I hope he'll be fit to make it though.

They didn't cancel the show. It was postponed. So maybe you should change your headline to "Oasis postpone show tonight"

shampoo, you obviously dont know anything about what happened or the human body. If you think about it (Which is very unlikely but there's maybe hope) at a festival like that the stages are at least about 10ft high, and correct me if im wrong but falling 10ft onto a guitar may well damage your hips and ribs. Would you like me to demonstrate on you?
