Oasis' Noel Gallagher confirms solo album plan

Plus the guitarist discusses his spat with Jay-Z

Oasis' Noel Gallagher has confirmed that he plans to release a solo album.

The guitarist told Blender that he hoped the four members of Oasis would each undertake individual projects following the release of their forthcoming album 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

"I'd like for us to do separate projects after this record," he said. "We'd all have to agree on it, so it will probably never happen. I've got loads of new songs. Somewhat predictably, they're all brilliant."

The news follows Noel Gallagher telling NME.COM last year that he was collecting songs together for a possible solo release and arranging a series of solo acoustic gigs.

Gallagher also spoke to Blender about his spat with Glastonbury headliner Jay-Z, who he had previously suggested was wrong for Glastonbury.

"What did I think of Jay-Z doing 'Wonderwall'?" he asked refering to the cover of the song the rapper played to open his Glastonbury Festival set this summer. "It was pretty funny. But I'm not sure one should be seen in public with a white Stratocaster."

Im all for a noel solo project especially if he gets a few special guests to play with him it will be interesting to hear. The only thing is trying not to sound like Oasis to much.

James - 'not sound like Oasis too much'. Dream on...if Noel had an experimental side to him we would have heard it 10 years ago.

i doubt if it is gonna be much different from the Noel-sung Oasis works

I doubt it will be different either. Noel's solo album will be his baby, it will be anticipated soooo much, i would love him to do it, but it will be built up to some silly expectation. If he gets Weller, Brownie and others on the album, it will be mega! Bring it on!!!
