Oasis losing out to Pink in chart battle

The singer is beating the Manchester band... so far

The midweek UK singles chart has revealed that Oasis are losing out to Pink in the battle to be Number One on Sunday (October 5).

Pink's single 'So What' is currently in the Number One slot, while Oasis' 'The Shock Of The Lightning' are in the Number Two slot, reports Music Week.

Pink's effort sat at Number 38 in the charts last Sunday (September 28), but physical sales of the single since have propelled it into the provisional top spot.

Check NME.COM on Sunday from 7pm (BST) to find out whether Pink or Oasis emerge victorious.

'The Shock Of The Lightning' is the first single from Oasis' forthcoming new album, 'Dig Out Your Soul', out on Monday (October 6).

Oasis are previewing 'Dig Out Your Soul' on MySpace from today (October 1).

Maybe this'll teach Noel not to rush his comeback singles (he laughed about how he wrote it in minutes - not so amazing since it bloody sounds like it!). This sounds like The Hindu Times, Lyla and Lord Don't Slow Me Down, all melted down and recycled. Pink's single is actually good and deserves the number 1 spot in my opinion.

The Singles Chart is irrelevant as formerly said.

As Pink rightly says, 'So What'? Oasis are heavily overhyped for a band with two or three decent songs ten years ago - most people with any taste have moved on, and yet they're still overhyped by the Thugs.....Go on Pink is all I say....

As are Oasis and Pink.

The singles charts are irrelevant. I thought we learnt that ages ago when Gareth Gates got to number 1 with unchained melody. anyway I haven't been a fan of Oasis' recent work but their new album is a major step up, definitely one of the albums of the year.

It doesn't deserve to be number 1. Probably their worst single to date!

typical comments from tight jean wearing indie students who think people like the foals r groundbreaking. go fcuk off and wear your bright pink sunglasses. if you dont like Oasis dont read the article, there is a reason why their roundhouse show sold out in 40 seconds...

Teenagers and little kids are fans of Pink..they're the ones who buy the singles...Oasis will be no.1 for their album without a doubt.

the best selling albums aren't always the best albums. a lot of amazing stuff happen on the US/Canada/Scandinavia indie scene and more went unoticed

NME is in the business of selling magazines, hness. They'll latch onto whoever will get the job done. Right now, that's Oasis. You people bring this up every time Oasis is getting ready to release a new album. What about the White stripes news, the news about the Strokes and the members' side projects, Glasvegas, Gorillaz...you could make the argument about almost any band that charts. As for the chart position, does it matter? I think the fact that they've charted #1 for years and years (in the UK) is good enough, so what if they don't hit #1 this time on the first week of the single's release? It was moronic of them not to release it earlier anyway; everyone's already heard the song and gone are the days of 3 bsides which would get people out to the shops to buy the single.. Here in the US, chart position means nothing; fans of decent bans don't bother following this garbage.

Oasis are musicians, pink is a mnaufactured image. She's topping the charts 'cos at the moment her image is adhereing to the masses. Whats more respectable and honourable, some silly pop act having there songs presented to them and then asked to sing and jump around with skimpy clothes on or people playing instruments and writing there own music/lyrics...come on you know i'm right!

Rooting for Pink? Just goes to show much some of you know. That is absolutely nothing.
