Oasis to debut royal-baiting 'Falling Down' video today (Feb 3)

Film for new single takes aim at monarchy

Oasis will debut the video for their new single 'Falling Down' at 5pm (GMT) today (February 3).

The video will be able to watch at MySpace.com/oasis from 5pm. However, fans can get see an exclusive selection of video stills now at NME.COM/photos now.

The clip will also be shown on Channel 4 at 11.35pm (GMT).

The video was directed by Wiz, who as well as the Gallaghers has made videos for Massive Attack and Primal Scream.

The 'Falling Down' promo mocks the British monarchy, cutting real footage of Prince Charles with footage showing the double life of a would-be royal.

However a spokesperson for band explained that "the video is director Wiz’s vision and is not directly related to the song".

They added: "Only Wiz knows what the story is but themes around fame, celebrity and secret lives are clearly part of his inspiration."

To find out exactly what Wiz had in mind for the controversial new film, get this week's issue of NME, on UK newsstands tomorrow (February 4) for more pictures from the set and an exclusive interview with Wiz himself.

'Falling Down' is set to be released as a single on March 9.

yet another post from someone who just can't get over the fact oasis are deservedly still one of the biggest bands, if not there biggest band, Britain has. And rightly so. Doesn't the artcile even say it's the work of the director, not Noel? Besides, a Union Jack flag guitar doesn't mean he supported the monarch back then you fucking tool. It's fair to say it's iconic - a british band becoming the biggest in the world at that point. It just goes to show how flawed all these 'hating-Oasis' comments are. Get a life. Anyway, strong tune, cool video.

MahadyTheLips - What a cock. What the fuck has him having a Union Jack on his guitar got to do with the Monarchy? You can be patriotic and still dislike the Royal family. And i wouldnt mind being irrelevant enough to sell about 600,000 tickets for this summers stadium tour. Music is obviously all about opinions but to say Oasis are irrelevant is absurd

mahadythelips. for starters, you clearly havn't read the article. i quote "the video is director Wiz’s vision and is not directly related to the song." no wonder noel gallagher gets so much flack. you clearly just clicked on this article wanting to have a pop at him.noel gallagher is a god. you are a complete tool.ps. for the last time how the fuck are they irrelevant? thats just some buzz word all oasis haters use to try and make themselves look good, it doesn't even mean anything. for starters, if they were so irrelevant then why are they never off the front page of nme.com, and why the fuck are you talking about them?

MahadyTheLips, did you per chance not listen to the Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross show but phone up to complain? I hate Lily Allen so guess what? If a story is showing about her I choose not to read it. Like it or not, Oasis defined a generation.

so irrelevant you just couldn't resist a paragraph of insulting the band?i'll admit it's a bit overdone just for a jab at the monarchy, but i'm american, what do i know of such things? it meant nothing to me, really, and the cold shoulder they give the subject of the video was cool 15 years ago. the song is great; but all music videos lost their edge when MTV stopped showing them in 1999 or thereabouts.

MahadyTheLips, your stupidity offends me. Did you not read the above article? It states about 17 times that the director of the video was Wiz. Not Noel, not Liam. Wiz.Your last word sums you and your comments up.

I'm a massive Oasis fan but I see your point here Mahady. This is possibly the shittest Oasis video ever. Great song though!

'Irrelevent'...always seems to be the buzz word for criticising Oasis. I never quite understand it. Surely a sell out world tour makes them 'relevent' if nothing else (like perhaps a band that has a place in the hearts of a generation of music lovers, and a mind-blowing live act)? And by debating their 'relevence' they clearly are 'relevent' to you. And Noel didn't make the video...

Mahady- did you even read the article?"the video is director Wiz’s vision and is not directly related to the song". Or did you see Oasis and just add another worthless comment? And yes I did bite at this!

Feb 4, 2009

MahadyTheLips it would be a good fucking idea to read the WHOLE article before talking bollocks. The video is the directors vision not noels, it clearly says that in the article ya jack of clubs! Another thing; if you deem them irrelevant why bother wasting your time reading and posting about them?

Here's hoping he never makes another music video for Oasis. Great song left for a shit video!

Like them or not (although you should), Oasis are the biggest band of our generation..There the most important, iconic and the best. True Rock N Roll stars.

....i thought this song was being re-mixed ????..can't say the video is anything flash but its good that its not just another Oasis performance vid, i'm still well pissed off at the lack of new b-sides tho....and MahadyTheLips, i can't even be arsed to fire anything back at you, you irrelevant fucktard, go watch Cok Party so some other wanky spiky indie toss..

I'm crying on the inside at how moronic people really are. To say Oasis are irrelevant is a load of crap. If they weren't irrelevant then surely people wouldn't comment on them, nor would they cite Definitely Maybe as one of the finest albums ever. Mahady is quite clearly a pretentious art student who listens to *insert generic indie by numbers band* and other pointless crap bands who are relevant for about 20 minutes and fade out as quickly as they appear. Also, come back in 15 years when you've had 7 number one albums, 7 number one singles and countless tours sell out, until YOU'RE the irrelevant one.
