Noel Gallagher: 'Oasis is a rudderless ship'

Guitarist reveals troubles in the band's camp

Oasis' Noel Gallagher has revealed that the Manchester legends are going through "bad times" at the moment, saying that the band members are heading into a "shitstorm" soon.

The guitarist made the revelation on his blog on the band's official MySpace page, Myspace.com/oasis. Oasis are currently on tour in South America.

"We speak at bad times for the Oasis tour," he wrote. "Bad times. We are a rudderless ship at the minute. And there's a fuckin' shit-storm on the horizon. I guess all will be revealed in due course.

"Strange atmosphere. I wouldn't mind but we're in South America! Playing massive stadiums and there's a bit too much hrmph-ing going on for my liking. Shame really."

Gallagher went on to reveal that the new Oasis song that appeared online last month was entitled 'If I Had A Gun…'.

"It's not quite finished yet," he wrote, "but it was quite nice to hear that someone had taped it. Been doing a few new ones lately. They sound quite epic."

He also commented on his friend, boxer Ricky Hatton's recent loss to Manny Pacquiao.

"A fuckin' disaster,” he wrote. "Knocked out in two rounds. Crushed. I guess the cheque will soften the blow, but still… fuck! Never mind, we can all help him drown his sorrows at Heaton Park" [in Manchester, where Oasis will play three shows in June].

'Rudderless ship'? More like 'Udderless cow' - as in they've milked it to fucking death.

I saw Oasis yesterday in Argentina and I loved it! the Gallaghers were in a really good mood, they talked a lot with the crowd, but i think it would be better a solo album by Noel than a new Oasis album

Azazel: you stupid clunk. all these other silly experiments people like to call bands have milked them for anything they can possibly suck out of em' like selfless blood sucking ticks. most of which would OBVIOUSLY not even exist with out this hugely important mega named Oasis.

Oasis have been a "rudderless ship" since 1996. Churning out the same old crap- and that´s coming from a former fan. Noel is just playing to the press because maybe some of the stadium dates haven´t completely sold out, so he wants to make people think this will be it- same old Noel, and the press always buy his bull shit.Would it be a great shame if Oasis split up? Not really, although that will never happen because Noel and Liam will always make more money together than apart, and money is all they care about.Just take a look at Liam´s clothes line- WTF? Is that the same Liam Gallagher from the early nineties? The man who flicked fag ash at Mick Jagger? No it isn´t, it´s a Liam Gallagher used to being a millionaire, and is worried the last album didn´t sell that well, because it is crap.

Orangeboy - Totally 110% agree (I read somwhere that 100% doesn't exist anymore?). I went to see Oasis in 1994 at Lucifers Mill in Dundee. I was 15 at the time and was in my total element. I bought Definetly Maybe and listened to it and all the b side of the first album relgiously. I loved them. Now I think (and have done for a while) they are the dullest and most uninventive band on the planet. Last time I went to see them was at Murrayfield in 2001 and it was complete turd and full of people who you now purely associate with Oasis. I'm sure you know what I mean. I believe the lost rudder that Noel speaks of is Tony McCarroll - Him and Guigsy's rhythm section ruled - now they have Andy Bell (a great guitarist) playing bass and have a had a million 'studio drummers' since McCarroll got the boot. It saddens me to say it but they are so one dimensional, you only have to look at the terrible support bands they pick. Band who aspire to be them (oasis). Its almost like a fucking massive ego trip. Sorry Noel and Liam but your time is up. It was up a very long time ago...

BINHAWK- Absolutely. I saw them at Maine road, Knebworth, Earls Court, and lastly Finsbury park- never been more surrounded by idiots in all my life. The new members are as boring as watching creasote dry. They probably have a check list when they join Oasis- Haircut, check, sunglasses, check, mouth closed, check, one song at most per album, check. They haven´t even got a permanent drummer. And despite the press bigging up Liam´s songs, I think they are derivitive bollocks. He also seems to sound more like the poor mans John Lennon on each album. It´s all so so boring now. As for their gigs, yeah you are right- Boozed up louts who have no idea about music, who buy this idea Liam is still a hoodlum from a burnage council estate. I think the only hope for Noel to write good songs again is if he does a solo album, where he doesn´t feel the pressure of creating an Oasis album. It´s all image over substance now, and as I said, it has been like that for over 10 years. They are a professional money making organisation, probably always were, but it has never been more obvious than now. Boring and soulless, with nothing in particular to say.

Footage of Noel Gallagher being attacked onstage in Toronto in September 2008 has been viewed over 1.5 million times. The attack left Gallagher with three broken ribs, leading to the cancellation of a series of gigs. "He's 47 and got three children," said Gallagher of his assailant, disbelievingly.
