Liam Gallagher has said he is planning for his post-Oasis band to release their debut single this October - and play live shows around its release.

The frontman told Shortlist that the band, as-yet unnamed, are recording their album this month during a three-week stint and aim to finish it by June.

"The album is written," he said. "We're recording it in April for three weeks then we have a break, go back in for another four weeks and it'll be done by June. But it won't be coming out 'til next year. But we're pushing to have a single out in October – so hopefully do some gigs around then."

He added that the new material is "a lot more musical than Oasis". He also said that Oasis would "never" reform.

Gallagher's new band features his former bandmates Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Chris Sharrock.
