Liam Gallagher is developing a film about the final years of The Beatles, according to reports.

Although the former Oasis frontman has not yet spoken about his involvement in the project himself, Daily Mail reports that he has acquired the rights to The Beatles' so-called 'house hippy' memoirs written by Richard DiLello, and is set to announce a film project based on the book at next week's Cannes Film Festival in France.

Called 'The Longest Cocktail Party: An Insider's Diary Of The Beatles, Their Million Dollar Apple Empire And Its Wild Rise And Fall', DiLello's book gives an insiders account of what it was like to work with The Beatles between 1967 and 1970.

Both Liam and Noel Gallagher have previously spoken about their love of the book, with the latter hailing it as "fucking brilliant".

The singer is reported to be working on the project with Revolution Films, and is currently looking for a screenwriter and director for the project.
