Noel Gallagher has opened the door to a possible Oasis reunion, saying that the band getting back together will be on the cards "forever".

In an interview with the Evening Standard, Gallagher said: "I can understand the man in the street thinking, 'That was such a huge thing, how can you walk away from it?' I understand. When the Sex Pistols reformed I thought it was the greatest thing of all time."

He added: "If The Stone Roses can do it, then anyone can do it. You can never predict what you’ll be doing in 20 years' time, but I guess if everyone remains vaguely slim and has not gone bald, then it’s on the cards. Forever."

He continued: "But saying that, when I pick up a guitar I don’t think about an Oasis reunion. I’ve recently seen Gem [Archer] and Liam and Chris [Sharrock], and not one of them mentioned it."

Noel Gallagher was speaking ahead of next year's Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, which he will curate for the first time. As revealed yesterday (December 5), Gallagher will play a headline show with Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon of Blur supporting him, and said he hopes the Britpop rivals can collaborate for the first time.

Kasabian, Primal Scream, Russell Brand, Ryan Adams and Rizzle Kicks will all appear across a week of live shows.
