An exhibition of Oasis photography and memorabilia due to have opened at Future Artists gallery in Manchester on July 18 has been indefinitely postponed.

'Chasing The Sun' features photographs of the band, alongside memorabilia such as handwritten lyrics donated by Noel Gallagher and the white jacket Liam Gallagher wore on stage when Oasis headlined Glastonbury in 1995. A room at the gallery would have recreated the sleeve of Oasis' 1994 debut album 'Definitely Maybe', featuring original props from the iconic cover, which was photographed in guitarist Bonehead's living room.

A statement by Future Artists blamed "unforeseen circumstances" for the postponement. It said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Future Artists regretfully inform you that the exhibition at the Great Northern, Manchester, has been postponed until further notice. For all updates and developments, subscribe to Oasis.net." A spokesman for the exhibition declined to comment, but NME understands the exhibition is likely to take place later in the year.

The exhibition was a success when it ran for a week at London gallery LONDONNEWCASTLE in April. Liam Gallagher and Bonehead were mobbed at its VIP opening, where they made a surprise appearance.

Named after a lyric from 'Slide Away', 'Chasing The Sun' coincides with the 20th anniversary of 'Definitely Maybe'. An expanded reissue of the album reached No 4 in May. Details of similarly-expanded versions of 1995's '(What's The Story) Morning Glory' and 1997's 'Be Here Now' are expected to be announced in the coming months.
