Watch OK Go's ‘Muppet Show Theme Song’ cover on NME.COM – video
Band recreate their classic videos with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy for Muppet tribute album
The track is taken from the new Muppets tribute LP ‘The Green Album’, which was released yesterday (August 23) and features artists including Weezer, Alkaline Trio and My Morning Jacket performing songs from the much-loved puppet television show.
Speaking about the video, which sees the band pay tribute to their former videos such as ‘Here It Goes Again’ and ‘White Knuckles’ with the help of characters from the show, Ok Go singer Damian Kulash said:
I’m so excited about working with the Muppets that I can hardly sleep. Collaborating with your idols is a huge thrill no matter what, but when your idols are fictional characters it seems downright impossible. The 10-year-old me was pretty good at imagining outrageous futures, but this surpasses even his capacities.
Kermit the Frog, meanwhile, added:
The Muppets have performed this song lots of times, but not like this. Ok Go never does anything the way you’d expect it. Damian, Tim, Dan and Andy like to mix things up and get a little loopy. I think they were Muppets in a previous lifetime.
Last year, Ok Go’s video for ‘White Knuckles’ – which featured the band and a collection of well-trained dogs – was seen by over one million people in its first 24 hours of being posted on YouTube. The track was taken from their last studio album ‘Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky’, which was released in January 2010.
