One Direction are in talks to work with Pharrell Williams on their next album, the producer and performer has revealed.

Pharrell, who appears on Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' and 'Blurred Lines' by Robin Thicke, opened up about his work with the hugely successful boyband during a new interview with the Sunday Mirror. Simon Cowell, mentor and label boss to One Direction, has also confirmed that he hopes to have the band record a Pharrell song for their new album 'Midnight Memories' due for release in November.

"We are definitely talking." Pharrell said. "From what I've heard of their new stuff I'm pleasantly surprised. Their new stuff is definitely a progression and an elevation. I will hopefully be getting involved as we are definitely in talks. I don't think some people realise how hard those boys work. There is so much more that goes into One Direction than just the band. They are a brand and are huge. They are incredibly hard-working. I'm sure it will excite our female fans if we're on a record together."

Simon Cowell added: "I spoke to Pharrell about working with us on something. I've known him for a long, long time and he was saying to me that it's just unbelievable what's happening with him.

Meanwhile, One Direction fans were shocked to see band member Louis Tomlinson vomit on the pitch while taking part in a charity football match yesterday (September 8).

Tomlinson was playing for a Celtic XI in Stilian Petrov's testimonial when he was tackled by Aston Villa and England striker Gabriel Agbonlahor. The challenge was so strong that Tomlinson had to leave the field with an injury, which caused him to be sick on his way off the field. Scroll down to watch video footage of the incident now.

Speaking after the game, manager Martin O'Neill said: "Gabby smashed into him but he picked himself up and was ill at the dressing room area. He has rushed off now but I think he is fine - he doesn't know where he is but I think he is fine."

Meanwhile, Morgan Spurlock recently spoke to NME about his One Direction film One Of Us, insisting that the boyband shouldn't be seen as the "murderers of music".

Spurlock's documentary chronicles what life is like on the road for one of the world's most successful pop acts and, in an interview which can be read on NME.COM/blogs, he admitted he was a fan of the group. "I've been to 35-plus One Direction concerts," he said. "You can't go to 35 shows and not be a fan. Well, you could but it would be infinitely more difficult."
