One Direction's Louis Tomlinson to complete Doncaster Rovers takeover next week
One Direction's Louis Tomlinson is set to complete a takeover of Doncaster Rovers FC with other members of a consortium next Wednesday (June 11), says a report.

The popstar has joined forces with the football club's former owner John Ryan and BBC Sport reports that the 22-year-old Tomlinson and the 64-year-old Ryan will become joint-chairmen of the club. They add that an agreement has been reached, but will not be signed off until next week as there has been a hold-up concerning Tomlinson's image rights from his management company.

Tomlinson played for the recently relegated club's reserves team earlier this year. A source previously told The Sun of the upcoming deal: "John is the business brains. He's incredibly experienced and Louis is learning so much from him. They want the deal to go through by July in time for the start of the new season. It's at an advanced stage." The unnamed source added: ''He and John have very ambitious plans for the club. They want to get back to the Championship within a year, and into the Premiership within three years.''

Tomlinson was recently involved in a minor scandal following the emergence of a video which seems to show him and his bandmate Zayn Malik smoking a "joint" in the back of a car. It is claimed that the video was filmed on April 27 while the singers were being driven through Lima, Peru on their way to a gig at the Estadio Nacional. The five-minute video appears to be filmed by Tomlinson, who is heard saying, "So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days!" It is not illegal to possess a small amount of cannabis in Peru. The rest of the band are not present in the video.

It is being reported that the band's tour managers are worried that the incident could jeopardise tour plans in North America. One Direction's management told the BBC: "This matter is in the hands of our lawyers."
