OOBERMAN'S TREASURE TEASER!

The NME Premier Award winners set treasure hunt with their Brat as the prize - click here for the first clue...

Ooberman, who release a new single 'SHORLEY WALL' on March 27 through Independiente, have devised a treasure hunt for fans to find the band's recently-won NME Premier Award.

There will be five separate clues for fans to solve which will lead to the Brat the band won for Best Performance at the NME Premier Shows - voted for by nme.com readers.

The band have buried the award at a secret location - and we're revealing the first clue to help you on your way to finding it today.

Ooberman singer Danny Popplewell told nme.com: "When the 'Shorley Wall EP' came out in November 1998, everyone was phoning (Radio One DJ) Mark Radcliffe to find out where Shorley Wall was, and in an interview with him I said we might do a treasure hunt when it was released as a proper single."

"As for the treasure, we thought we'd bury our NME Brat Award for a fan to find because it was the fans who voted for us in the first place.

"The first clue is: in the song it says that the moon is rising over the sea which can only happen on one British coastline. Work out which coastline and you're on the way."

More clues will follow on March 1 on the band's website www.ooberman.com, March 8 here on nme.com and www.ooberman.com, March 15 on Radio One and March 22 in an NME advert.

When in possession of all the clues, fans will be directed to the band's website where they will provide the ten winning contestants with a final clue to the location of 'Shorley Wall' and the prize.

The winners will travel to mystery location on April 1 where the treasure will be uncovered.

The single 'Shorley Wall' is taken from the band's debut album 'The Magic Treehouse' and will feature b-sides of 'Wasteland Of Souls', 'Blossom Falling'(accoustic version), 'Golden Fall', 'Tears From A Willow' and 'Buster'.

Meanwhile, Ooberman tour the UK in March, calling at London Madame Jo Jo's (March 1), Glasgow King Tut's (24), Sheffield Leadmill (25), Bristol Fleece & Firkin (26), Leicester Princess Charlotte (28), Leeds Cockpit (30), Hull University (31), Manchester University (April 1), Liverpool Lomax (2) and London King's College (4).
