ORBITAL'S TREBLE CHANCE? Orbital Tickets
The duo are strongly rumoured to be playing a three-night stint at London's Brixton Academy soon - so NME.COM finds out what the Hartnoll brothers are up to...
Rumours that ORBITAL will play three LONDON shows in April 2001 have been denied by the duo's official spokesperson.
According to reports this morning, the seminal dance brothers are due to play three nights at the London Brixton Academy between April 19-21.
However, NME.COM can report the dates are currently unconfirmed, and tickets are not yet on sale.
A spokesperson for the Orbital told NME.COM: "They will be doing some shows, but Orbital are currently in Japan and won't be confirming anything until after the New Year. There certainly will be gigs in the first quarter of next year because of the album, but at this stage nothing is certain."
Orbital have confirmed an appearance alongside Leftfield at the London Arena on New Year's Eve (December 31). Also confirmed for the event is Andrew Weatherall, Carl Craig and Afrika Bambaataa, who'll be appearing on stage for the first time ever in the UK with headliners Leftfield .
Orbital's new studio album is due in March through London. Speaking exclusively to NME.COM about the record, Phil Hartnoll said the band had experimented with surround-sound technology on the album. He said: "It's a bit more of a fun LP. There are no moody downer tracks, there's a really nice, lovely track with a mate of mine singing. It's called 'Funny Break'...There's one called 'Last Thing' which is another one of my favourites, that's a bit more of a dancey number."
