LIGHT ME FOR A REASON!

Donny and Marie will carry the flame ahead of the opening ceremony in their native Salt Lake City...

70s singing sensations DONNY and MARIE OSMOND are going to help carry the Olympic torch on the final leg of its journey to SALT LAKE CITY in UTAH for the WINTER OLYMPICS next month.

The pair will carry the flame ahead of the opening ceremony on February 8. However, it is unclear if they will actually carry the torch right into the stadium and light the flame that burns throughout each Olympics.

BBC Online reports that a host of other local celebrities including baseball and basketball stars will run with the torch. Each will carry the flame two-tenths of a mile, about the distance of a lap, on its journey through 50 Utah communities.

Marie and Donny, who scored hits with siblings Alan, Jay, Merrill, Wayne and Jimmy - including 'Love Me For A Reason' which was later covered by Boyzone - still live in the Mormon city of Salt Lake City.
