Big Boi sets his sights on the dance stage
Outkast star Big Boi has revealed he has collaborated with the Atlanta Ballet on a brand new production.
’Big’ will run for six performances at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, starting on April 10.
The production even stars Big Boi himself and a younger dancer named Little Big as they move through a series of dance sequences set to Outkast hits, unreleased Big Boi tracks and material from his upcoming solo record.
Accompanied by a full live band, the production is described as an examination of "the American dream – or the lack of it – from a 360-degree perspective".
Speaking of the venture Big Boi told Spin: "I’ve dated a couple of ballerinas. But I was like, ‘That sounds kind of dope – let’s crank it up.'"
And if all goes well, the production could make its way to Europe later this year.
The Shockwaves NME Awards 2008 are coming soon – and it’s time to have your say. Vote now by heading to NME.COM/awardsvote and you could win VIP tickets to the ceremony, which takes place in London on February 28.
