A representative for Andre 3000 has denied rumours that the Outkast star will release his long-awaited debut solo album in 2014.

Rumours about the possibility of seeing a full length solo effort from the US rapper emerged over the weekend when Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Programming and Specials, posted a message on Twitter suggesting that Andre 3000 had told him the album was due at the start of next year. The tweet from Hill read: "Me: hey what’s up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah…and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*"

The movie mentioned in Hill's tweet is the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side that Andre 3000 will play the lead role in. The film is due to premiere in September at the Toronto Film Festival. However, a representative working for the rapper/ actor denied that there are any confirmed plans to release a solo album in 2014. Speaking to Billboard, the rep said: "Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014. There is no official confirmation on that report."

In an interview with GQ earlier this year, André confirmed he was working on a solo album, stating: "For the last two years, I’ve been doing collaborations. I’ve just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I’m planning to do a solo project. I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year."

Outkast's last album 'Idlewild' was released in 2006. Since then Andre 3000 has collaborated with artists such as Drake, Beyonce and Frank Ocean while his partner Big Boi has released two solo albums, including 2012 record 'Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumours'.
