US stars chosen by festival-goers

Kings Of Leon are the first band to be confirmed for 2008’s Oxegen festival, after topping a poll of bands festival-goers would most like to see.

The Tennessee group will perform at the Irish festival in Punchestown next July (11-13), the first time the bash has been expanded to three days.

Singer Caleb Followill said: “We love playing in Ireland, the fans are brilliant and we can’t wait to play Oxegen 2008.”

Early bird tickets for the event go on sale on November 30 at 2007’s price of 197.50 Euros.

Every four people will also receive a free parking space to encourage car sharing, while fans wishing to camp from Thursday will have to purchase a Thursday Camping Ticket for 20 Euros.
