Amy MacDonald covers The Killers at Oxegen

Amy MacDonald has kicked off proceedings at the 2008 Oxegen Festival this evening (July 11) by covering The Killers.

MacDonald played a nine-song set on the Main Stage, consisting mainly of songs from her million-selling album 'This Is The Life'.

However, the biggest cheer came when she launched into her cover of 'When You Were Young' which featured on the band's 2006 album 'Sam's Town'.

The 19-year-old Scot, evidently a huge fan of the Las Vegas four-piece, later told the audience that her song 'Run' was inspired by The Killers.

Making her Oxegen debut, she commented: "It's really cool to open a festival because everyone is in such high spirits, but it's especially great to open this one. Us Scots and Irish are always in the mood to party."

Amy MacDonald played:

'Poison Prince'
'L.A.'
'Mr Rock 'N' Roll'
'Your Time Will Come'
'This Is The Life'
'When You Were Young'
'Barrowland Ballroom'
'Run'
'Let's Start A Band'
