Ozzfest is free this year
Hard rock festival kicks off this summer
Tickets to Ozzfest 2007 will be free, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne announced today (February 6).
The annual hard rock festival, which began in 1996 and has served as a launching ground for bands including Linkin Park and Incubus, will be dubbed 'FreeFest' this year.
"We're reaching the same point we did years ago when kids no longer wanted to pay for overpriced CDs," Sharon Osbourne said. "As a result, they found alternative ways of getting music. That’s what’s happening with summer touring in this country, it’s out-pricing itself."
As a result, the Ozzfest founders, tour producer Live Nation and various sponsors are underwriting the cost of the festival, which hits US cities this summer.
The festival will kick off in Los Angeles on July 7 and hits 25 US cities including San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Kansas City, St Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Hartford, Charlotte, Atlanta, West Palm Beach and Nashville.
A full list of dates and performers, as well as instructions for acquiring tickets, will be announced shortly.
