The rap star is off the hook

Assault charges brought against P. Diddy for allegedly assaulting a man at a New York nightclub have been dropped.

The rap star, whose real name is Sean Combs, was accused of punching a man in the face in a dispute over a woman last month.

Yesterday (November 6), prosecutors announced they would drop the charges because the accuser has not cooperated with law enforcement and gave conflicting accounts of the incident - therefore they have not been able to prove criminal charges beyond reasonable doubt.

P. Diddy’s attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said he was pleased that no charges would be filed against his client.

"Both Mr. Combs and I are pleased that the DA's office and the police department conducted a very thorough investigation and came to this conclusion," Brafman told the Associated Press.
