Palma Violets and The Weeknd made their debut appearances on Jools Holland last night (November 27) – watch clips from the show below.

Former NME cover stars Palma Violets are currently in the studio recording their debut album with Pulp's Steve Mackey, which is set for release on February 25, 2013. The band played their debut single 'Best Of Friends' – today was voted NME's Track of 2012, which you can watch below. They are also booked to play next years' NME Awards tour along with Django Django, Miles Kane and Peace - see below for ticket details.

Secretive RnB star The Weeknd also appeared on the BBC2 programme last night - playing tracks from his debut album 'Trilogy', which is a compendium of his three LPs 'House Of Balloons', 'Thursday' and 'Echoes Of Silence', which were released online early in 2011.

The singer - real name Abel Tesfaye, has played very few gigs and has never done a full interview, but did speak to NME this week after his show at London's Supper Club, where he said he only existed in people’s bedrooms and iPods. "I make good music for long journeys," he joked. About doing live shows he added, "There was so much pressure coming in. But I've played it well because being off the circuit has allowed me to practice with this band back home in Toronto for months." Watch The Weeknd perform his track 'Wicked games' below.

Lana Del Rey also appeared on the show last night, playing her track 'Ride'.
