Woman accused of performing sex act on partner during Paloma Faith concert in London, court hears

Lisanne Beck is accused of giving partner oral sex during BBC Radio 2 concert in Hyde Park last year

A court has heard how a Welsh woman accused of performing a sex act on her boyfriend during a BBC gig in London’s Hyde Park last year told police that “the rules must be different in England” following her arrest.

Lisanne Beck is accused of giving her partner Simon Murphy oral sex during a Radio 2 concert last year. Paloma Faith, Chrissie Hynde, Blondie (right) and Billy Ocean all performed at the event, which was headlined by Jeff Lynne’s ELO.

Beck is alleged to have made her comment about the “rules in England” after the couple were ejected from the event and arrested. Onlookers have described at the Old Bailey in London how the couple became intimate during Paloma Faith’s performance. One witness, Mike Holden, told the court he was so disgusted he began filming the couple using his phone. This footage was passed on to police and shown in court.

The couple deny all allegations, claim they have been “framed” and insist the incident is a case of mistaken identity. “Lisanne didn’t perform this on me and didn’t perform it on anyone else. I would have noticed if she had,” Murphy is reported to have told the court.

Speaking in court, witness Holden said that children were nearby while the alleged act took place. “Up until the sexual act I was amused to a certain extent,” he said. “When I realised things were going too far I was repulsed by that and very upset by that. It was a family event and there were children in the immediate vicinity.”

The jury were then shown mobile phone footage of the couple, in which Beck could be seen moving her head towards Murphy. Holden told jurors that Murphy was exposed during the alleged act.

Beck, who told police she had drunk three ciders, admitting kissing and hugging her boyfriend during the concert but insisted that she ‘did not put her head on or near his groin’ at any point. “I’ve never committed a sex act in public,” she said. “I believe they said that because they wanted to frame us because they didn’t like how we were laughing and joking and being merry.”

The trial continues.
