Paramore's Hayley Williams has described how close the band came to splitting during the recording of their most recent album, 2009's 'Brand New Eyes'.

Williams, who was dating the band's guitarist Josh Farro until 2007, told The Guardian that she found the album "embarrassing" to write following the split.

"We'd get into arguments," she said, "and he'd be like, 'Why can't you write in front of me? It shouldn't be that big of a deal, you know me…'"

She added that the song 'Ignorance' marked a turning point in the sessions, and inadvertently stopped the band from splitting up.

"I tried to mumble all the way through," she said about the first time she sung the lyrics to her bandmates. "But Taylor [York, guitarist] was right next to the speaker and heard every word. He gave me this fierce look – I thought he was going to kill me – and said, 'So do you want to tell me about those lyrics?'

"I ran into the bathroom, I was so nervous. But we talked for two hours and reconciled a lot of tough, heavy things. That song saved our band."

Paramore are set to start their UK and Ireland tour tomorrow (November 6), playing Dublin's O2 Arena.
