Paramore's Hayley Williams has said that she doesn't feel the need to write songs about sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.

The singer says that she doesn't try and "be cool" by swearing in songs or attempting to appeal to an older audience with references to drugs and sex. Instead, she says she prefers talking about "normal life problems".

Speaking in an interview with NPR, she said: "I don't really feel like I need to say anything about sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. I don't need to swear. And I'm not saying that I'm a perfect angel, but I think it would feel very disingenuous - like, 'This is me trying to be cool. Maybe we'll grab a couple older fans if I just put this swear word in'. I want to talk about normal life problems."

Williams also went on to talk about the band's recent troubles but insisted whenever she felt like ending the band she thought about how others would feel being in her position. "There were definitely days that I was like, 'Am I doing the right thing?', she said. "But then you kind of look over at your friends and realise there's probably a million kids that are sitting at school, wishing they were doing what you're doing."

Paramore release their self-titled new album tomorrow (April 8). The band's fourth album features the tracks 'Fast In My Car', 'Still Into You', 'Now', 'Grow Up' and 'Daydreaming'.

The 'Paramore' tracklisting is:
